GOLF: PGA: Booth earns squad call-up
/noticias.info/ Fourteen-year-old Scot Carly Booth has become one of the youngest players to be chosen for a Britain and Ireland golf squad.
Booth was only 11 when she partnered Sandy Lyle to victory in the British Masters pro-am and has now earned a scholarship to David Leadbetter's academy in Florida.
Also a member of the under-16 side which tied the Junior Ryder Cup in September, she is part of a 15-player squad selected by the Ladies' Golf Union in advance of the Vagliano Trophy and Commonwealth tournament next season.
Curtis Cup quartet Tara Delaney, Naomi Edwards, Breanne Loucks and Melissa Reid are also named.
Gillian Kirkwood, chairman of the LGU selection committee, commented: "We are delighted to give a number of young players the opportunity of being part of the LGU training programme and believe that the mix of youth and experience will ensure that strong teams are selected for the two matches.
"This year a number of potential team members have turned professional, so the squad contains quite a few new faces. However, the way is still open for players outside the squad to play their way in." notas_de_prensa_archivo
