GOLF: PGA: Spaniard proud after win
/noticias.info/ Spanish rookie Alvaro Quiros attacked the Leopard Creek course on Sunday with the bravado of a bullfighter and fought to the end to pip South Africa's Charl Schwartzel for the Alfred Dunhill Championship title.
Quiros finished the tournament on 13-under-par 275 after a final round 67 to beat Schwartzel by one.
"I have not been hitting the ball very straight off the tee and Saturday was terrible, I was pulling everything but on Sunday, the drives were a lot better." said Quiros. "And with my putting, which has been very poor the last five months, I didn't miss."
"And when I have a six-iron in my hand, I think I will go for the shot every time. Umbrellas are for ladies who can't stand the heat," Quiros added about his aggressive play.
"In the end they are just people like me. I knew it might count for or against Charl to play in front of his home crowd. So I just concentrated on my own game." notas_de_prensa_archivo
