GOLF: PGA: Kim leads Korea to golf glory
/noticias.info/ Kim Kyung-tae took individual honours in the Asian Games golf tournament, and also helped make it a double for South Korea as the golfers from the 'land of the morning calm' claimed the team title.
Conditions were far from calm at the Doha Golf Club on the final day of the tournament, but the wet and windy weather did not prevent Kim from shooting a two-under-par 70 for a gold medal winning total of 276.
Pan Cheng Tsung saved his worst for last as the 15-year-old from Chinese Taipei carded an even 72 in the fourth and final round to finish one stroke below Kim for the silver medal.
And Michael Eric Bibat from the Philippines was the surprise bronze medalist, being awarded third on countback after sharing a total of 279 with Singapore's Tze Huang Choo and South Korea Republic's Kim Do-hoon senior.
Kim senior, who shot a seven-under 65 in round two to set an amateur men's course record, hit a final round 72, which combined with Kim Kyung-tae's 70 and Kang Sung-hoon's 73 to give a team event winning total of 836.
India finished runners-up with a score of 849, while Chinese Taipei were just one stroke behind to take bronze ahead of Japan, who fell off the pace on the last day to card 853 and finish fourth. notas_de_prensa_archivo
