FOOTBALL EUROPE: Barreto takes the reins at Naval

Barreto will lead the team's training sessions from today but will have to wait for his contract at Dinamo to end on 31 December before assuming full control of the Figueira da Foz-based club. The 49-year-old has been given an 18-month deal and replaces caretaker coach Fernando Mira, who has been at the helm since Rogério Gonçalves left to join SC Braga on 12 November. Naval chairman Aprígio Santos said: "The negotiations, which started several weeks ago, were not easy. He was still in Russia but we were not in any rush."
