The players of the first team squad and the technical staff agree that Arsenal are tough opponents in the Champions League. Captain Phillip Cocu and Timmy Simons think they have been handed a fair draw, just like assistant coach Tonny Bruins Slot.
It’s a fine and interesting draw”, said Cocu on arrival at De Herdgang training ground. "Arsenal like to play attacking football. They field a young side that is well-known for its passing game. They field quite a few youngsters and are obviously favourites to progress, but yet I am content with the draw. We have avoided the likes of Olympique Lyon and at this stage of the competition you never get an easy draw”, said the PSV captain. Midfielder Timmy Simons is also content. “They’re going to be interesting games. Arsenal are a strong side, but I am glad we have not been drawn against Lyon. I am looking forward to meeting Arsenal”, announced the Belgian midfielder.
Tonny Bruins Slot was also satisfied with the draw. "We will be allowed to put in two fine performances, provided we are in-form. I think it’s a very nice draw. Arsenal coach Wenger fields only quick and technically skilful players. London is nice place for our travelling fans. Jan Wouters and I have been to their new stadium, on the occasion of the farewell testimonial Dennis Bergkamp. I think it’s a fair draw. Their elegant players possess technical skills and you have all the ingredients for two exciting games. notas_de_prensa_archivo
