ARSENAL: Rosicky nearly fit but Gallas is 10 days away

Arsène Wenger has none of his injured players back for the visit of Portsmouth on Saturday and also reported mixed news about two who are still on the sidelines.

Tomas Rosicky has been out since the victory over Tottenham on December 2 while William Gallas last played against Newcastle on November 18.

The Czech midfielder is now fit but will not be risked at the weekend. Rosicky is suffering the same hamstring injury that cost him games earlier in the season and Wenger is being cautious this time. However Gallas is not in the same situation. The centre back is not expected to play before Christmas.

“Rosicky is very close,” said Wenger at Friday’s pre-match press conference. “I could have included him but I do not want to take another gamble with him and have a setback. He has practised the first day with us today and I found it too early.”

When asked about Gallas, he replied: “William is nowhere near. He’ll be back in 10 days.” notas_de_prensa_archivo
