CHELSEA FC: ROBBEN: LETTING FEET DO THE TALKING
/noticias.info/ Arjen Robben, a starter in Chelsea's midweek win over Newcastle, has backed himself to be up to the job, even if Jose Mourinho returns to 4-4-2 at Everton on Sunday.
Chelsea's flying winger looked on song in both Wednesday's 90 minutes and as a second-half substitute against Arsenal last weekend when his manager switched to a 4-3-3 shape.
The tactics this season have not always made it easy for Robben to slot in.
'As a player you always want to play but we have been playing a lot of 4-4-2 this season,' he observed as he prepared for the weekend trip up to Goodison Park.
'I had an injury at the beginning of the season but when I came back from that, I have played a couple of times in the middle as well with Didier Drogba - Barcelona away, Tottenham away, games like that.
'So I think I can play in that system as well. For me, the only thing I have to do is show my qualities in training and on the pitch. Nothing else.
'You can speak to the manager and ask why I am not playing but that is not the thing to do. I am not really a player who likes to talk.
'I think you have to show how good you are and then get your place back in the team.'
Everton twice last season held Chelsea to 1-1 draws on their patch, once in the league and once in the FA Cup - a fact not wasted on Robben.
'Everton away is always difficult. It is a tough place to go and we have to get our minds again on that game.
'We can't afford to lose points because last Sunday, of course it was a difficult game against Arsenal, but we lost two points there.
'Last Wednesday was an important win so we have to continue that.' notas_de_prensa_archivo
