NHL: PENGUINS HOPE TO CONTINUE SUCCESS IN MONTREAL ON SATURDAY

The Penguins have been surging as they posted their fourth-consecutive win Friday night against the Islanders in Pittsburgh.

“If we play our game, we’re a tough team to play against. That’s the main thing,” Penguins winger Ryan Malone said. “We were playing smart with the puck and not turning over the puck in the neutral zone; we’re winning the 1-on-1 battles and goalies are making the timely saves. That’s what you need to be a good hockey team and right now we’re playing pretty well.”

The Penguins have experienced an offensive explosion lately with 24 goals in their last four games.

“We were creating opportunities from turnovers and playing the system properly, working hard, competing hard and doing the right things,” Penguins winger Mark Recchi said. “We’re getting rewarded by scoring goals.”

Sidney Crosby leads the way. The 19-year-old has 19 points (6+13) in his last seven games. He has scored at least one goal in six-straight games – a career high. He now has an NHL-leading 51 points (16+35) in 28 games.

The Penguins return home Tuesday to take on the St. Louis Blues at 7 p.m. notas_de_prensa_archivo
