FOOTBALL EUROPE: Miyamoto makes Salzburg switch
/noticias.info/ Austrian league leaders FC Salzburg have signed Japanese international defender Tsuneyasu Miyamoto from Gamba Osaka.
'A dream player'
The 29-year-old is thought to have signed a one-year contract, and Salzburg coach Lothar Matthäus said of of a player who has won 71 caps for his country: "He is a dream player for Giovanni Trapattoni and me and would improve the squad at any European club." Having started his career with Gamba Osaka, Miyamoto won the 2005 Japanese league title while at the club and also the 2000 and 2004 Asian Cups with the Japanese national team. A member of the his country's squad at the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals, many supporters will remember him for the protective mask he wore at the 2002 finals.
Alessandro arrangement
Another Japanese international, Santos Alessandro - also known as Alex - is set to join Salzburg. The 29-year-old midfielder, who is currently discussing personal terms after his club Urawa Reds agreed a deal with the Austrian side, has scored seven goals in 82 internationals. notas_de_prensa_archivo
