GOLF: ASIAN TOUR STARS BRING CHEER TO DANIEL
/noticias.info/ December 20: The Asian Tour stars who competed in the season-ending Volvo Masters of Asia in Bangkok last week helped bring a smile to Daniel Burns.
Led by the newly crowned UBS Order of Merit winner Jeev Milkha Singh, the players autographed a Volvo Masters of Asia golf cap for the 17-year-old Daniel, who is suffering from a rare disease called Leighs Disease.
Born on September 29, 1989, Daniel appeared to be a healthy child. He developed normally through to the age of five, learning to read and write by the age of four. A few months after his fifth birthday he woke up one morning limping and he had his right hand in a fist. This had been caused by a stroke which had been caused by a very rare disease called Leighs Disease.
Leighs Disease causes every cell in the body to not produce enough energy to run his body normally. When Daniel was diagnosed on Christmas Eve of 1994, he was given two years to live.
Although he now is wheelchair bound, he is fed through a nasal gastro (NG) Tube and finds communication very difficult and he is mentally unaffected. He has spent the last 12 years defying the doctors and is always happy and loves sport.
Daniel often spends many hours watching golf on The Golf Channel and the autograph Volvo cap will certainly bring a smile to Daniel's face come Christmas. notas_de_prensa_archivo
