FOOTBALL EUROPE: Super Cup delight for Anderlecht

/noticias.info/ RSC Anderlecht won their seventh Belgian Super Cup as they triumphed 3-1 against SV Zulte Waregem in a tie postponed from the start of the season.

Anderlecht ahead
Heavy rainfall saw the original fixture in July abandoned at half-time with the scores level at 0-0 but Anderlecht made the early running in the rematch at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, taking the lead from the penalty spot after 34 minutes through Ahmed Hassan.

Half-time changes
Zulte Waregem coach Francky Dury brought on Wouter Vandendriessche, Cédric Roussel and Tim Matthys at half-time, and it paid off just five minutes later as Matthys's cross set up Vandendriessche for the equaliser. Matthys was then denied another goal as Davy Schollen fended off his header.

'I am proud'
However, the Belgian Cup holders, making their debut in the fixture, could not maintain the pace, with Roland Juhász and Sébastian Siani scoring the goals that won the trophy for Anderlecht. "I accept the defeat - Anderlecht deserved to win," said Dury. "But I am proud of two things: That we reached the Super Cup and that we dared to play with a young team here." notas_de_prensa_archivo
