EVERTON FC: MOYES EXPLAINS LATE CHANGES
/noticias.info/ David Moyes insisted after Saturday's game at Reading that he is not prepared to risk any of his players during the hectic Christmas schedule.
Everton kicked off a run of four festive fixtures in nine days with a 2-0 win over the Royals at the Madejski Stadium but were without two of the planned starting eleven.
Alan Stubbs had been set to play alongside Joseph Yobo in defence, whilst at the other end of the field Victor Anichebe was due to continue from where he left off last weekend with Andy Johnson.
Both players were ruled out of the match in the minutes leading up to kick-off after Anichebe complained of sickness and Stubbs sustained an injury during the warm-up.
Moyes explained to evertonfc.com: "Victor was named in the team but then started to feel unwell. I don't know if it was the pre-match meal or it's just a bug but we will keep an eye on him.
"With Stubbsy he hurt his knee during the warm-up. He went up to head the ball and he must have landed awkwardly.
"With both players we were not prepared to take chances, especially at this stage."
Both players will now report to the medical team on Christmas Eve morning and their progress will be monitored ahead of the Boxing Day visit of Middlesbrough. notas_de_prensa_archivo
