EVERTON FC: YOBO EYES BORO & YAKUBU
/noticias.info/ Joseph Yobo is looking forward to getting the bragging rights against friend and international teammate Yakubu when Everton face Middlesbrough on Boxing Day.
Yakubu helped Middlesbrough get the better of Everton when the sides met at The Riverside in October, with the 2-1 reverse the Blues' first defeat of the campaign.
Yobo is now focussed on the turning the tables for the return encounter at Goodison.
He told evertonTV: "I was disappointed we lost the game at The Riverside but I know Yakubu well and I don't think he really fancies playing against me.
"We are going to see that again on Boxing Day because it is going to be tough, we are both strong and quick. As friends we want to have something we can talk about when we go back home - and getting the three points would be very important.
"And then against Newcastle I will be playing against Martins so all of Nigeria will be watching that game as well."
The prospect of two home games in Christmas week is something Yobo welcomes as the Toffees seek to springboard up the table.
He continues: "It is good for us that during this hectic period we are not travelling too far away.
"These are games we need to win. You can see that from our three games already against Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Manchester City because we played really well and deserved to win the three games but let things slip. With two of those return matches at home that is vital because things can change quickly at Christmas.
"We need to take advantage of the home games and go to Manchester City confident knowing we can win that.
"Since the early part of the season we have not got back-to-back wins and when you do that you can take a lot of confidence."
