EVERTON FC: HUGHES READY TO STEP IN

/noticias.info/ Young defender Mark Hughes is ready to step into the breach, should there be any injury problems during the Christmas period.

With Everton handed four games in just nine days over the Christmas period, injuries and suspensions can mount up quickly.

And after appearing in the games against Peterborough, Luton and West Ham, Hughes is prepared should a chance come his way.

He said: "We are in training all over Christmas and if there are any injuries or anything then you never know when you are going to be in there."

The reserve skipper is as keen as his teammates for Everton to enjoy a fruitful festive period.

"They say Christmas is the main time of the season and hopefully we can get some points and push ourselves up the table," he said.

And regular training over the holiday season doesn't faze the young centre-half.

"That's your job isn't it, you wouldn't change it for anything else."
