INTER: MORATTI: "RESPECT FOR THE DERBY"

/noticias.info/ MILAN - Massimo Moratti spoke on Italian television this afternoon on his arrival at the Saras offices:

Dr Moratti: are you irritated by the declarations made yesterday by minister Melandri?
"Not really. The reaction was perhaps a bit excessive and reported badly by the media."

Two days on, are you still a bit angry about how this elimination came about, considering the fact that some big clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Arsenal have been knocked out?
"No, this means nothing. There's still great disappointment, but the team showed it is still very strong. We lost to a team I regard as less strong than us, but who did well in the two matches, particularly here in Milan, creating a difficult return leg for us."

Are you worried about the derby?
"No, nothing changes, although psychologically there could be less of an incentive now."

Ibrahimovic said he is ready to take the blame for the elimination because he didn't give what he could have.
"I think that in saying this, Ibrahimovic showed what a good lad he is. It's never the fault of just one person. Ibrahimovic did what he had to do. Certain plays didn't go well for him that went better in other matches where he has enjoyed more freedom. But he did very well to say this because it shows he has lots of character."

The derby is around the corner. Do you fear a possible psychological counter-blow after your elimination from the Champions League?
"No, I don't think so. I hope they face it with all the necessary respect for a derby."

Ronaldo said in an interview that he is still fond of Massimo Moratti.
"He'll have to prove this in the derby...(smiles)."

President: you said there's no change in the relationship with Roberto Mancini as a result of the Champions League exit. Can we expect you to announce the renewal of his contract soon?
"I don't think it will be long, but we don't feel this need to make an announcement. The players, the team and everyone knows it's something that will continue."

Could it be that you have already signed the contact, and that you will only announce it at the end of the championship?
