AC MILAN: KAKA' SEALS IT
A wonderful solo goal from Ricky Kakà early in extra time was enough to see Milan through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League
/noticias.info/ Ricky Kakà's wonderful solo goal in extra-time secured Milan a 1-0 win over Celtic and progress to the Champions League quarter-finals stage. It was a fitting end to an tense and exciting encounter at the San Siro as the Brazilian had been the most lively player throughout the evening.
The first ninety minutes had failed to produce a goal but in the third minute of extra time, Kakà went on a solo run from the halfway line through the Celtic defence before drawing goalkeeper Artur Boruc and slipping the ball through his legs. Just before the end of normal time, Kakà had almost broken the deadlock with a stunning curling shot that came back off the crossbar.
The match started with the 'Golden Boy' producing the first shot after four minutes, curling an effort towards the bottom corner of Celtic's goal that Boruc dived to push round his post. Milan were in control throughout and once again Kakà was the focal point as he exchanged a quick pass with Clarence Seedorf before having a shot blocked. The second half followed a similar pattern, with both Paolo Maldini and Andrea Pirlo going close but after Kakà's sublime moment in extra time, there was only one winner and Milan are another step towards Athens.
