ARSENAL: Wenger - Champs Lge winner will be English
/noticias.info/ By Richard Clarke
Arsène Wenger believes an English team will win the Champions League this season.
Unfortunately Arsenal's participation in Europe’s top competition was ended by PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday. The Dutch side were drawn against Liverpool in Friday’s draw while Chelsea got Valencia, Manchester United were given Roma and, in the only tie not to include an English team, Milan were paired with Bayern Munich.
Wenger could not pick a winner amongst the last eight but he did suggest it would be one of his domestic rivals.
“It is very difficult to predict,” he told Arsenal.com. “It looks like there is no dominating team in Europe but, as well, no easy team to beat. But I would think it will be an English winner.”
Certainly Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United will be favourites to progress to the Semi-Final. However, as Arsenal found to their cost against PSV, organisation and determination mean much more than a big reputation.
“I feel all the teams who play against the English sides - Roma, Eindhoven and Valencia - are defensive. I am sure these teams will be happy with a 0-0 in the first leg.
“So the target for the English teams must to go over there and try to score a goal. Then they can try to finish them at home.” notas_de_prensa_archivo
