FOOTBALL EUROPE: Stuttgart secure Magnin commitment
/noticias.info/ Swiss international left-back Ludovic Magnin has signed a two-year extension to his contract with VfB Stuttgart, committing to the Bundesliga champions until June 2010.
Renewed goals
The 28-year-old was out of contract in the summer and with clubs from across Europe reported to be interested, the defender's future at the Gottleib-Daimler Stadion appeared uncertain. He has removed any questions by signing a new deal, however, and Magnin insisted his commitment was never in doubt. "All in all I feel fine at Stuttgart and I am sure to achieve goals in future years with the side," said the player, who has made 61 Bundesliga appearances since joining from Werder Bremen in summer 2005.
'High standing'
"I had other options but everything pointed to my staying with Stuttgart," Magnin added. "I hope we can get back on track and become as successful as last season." Ninth in the table after a torrid start to their title defence, success may have to wait until 2008/09, yet Stuttgart sporting director Horst Heldt is confident that in Magnin the side have a player to restore the glory. "We are happy Ludo is staying," he said. "He is a member of the team's central council and has a high standing in the side." notas_de_prensa_archivo
