ARSENAL: 'It might have been very different'
/noticias.info/ on the game...
"I don't think Everton created an awful lot. We defended poorly on the goal and thereafter were chasing the game. I think though that we created enough to level it and I'd like to see the possession. That would be interesting because it felt like a lot.
"We had a few chances then and with a bit of quality it might have been different but it just wasn't to be. I felt straight after they scored that we took control of the game and had every chance but it wasn't to be. That's football and you have to grin and bear it."
on what went wrong...
"We looked a little bit lacklustre and down in the dumps. I don't know why but we didn't look sparky and suffered the consequences."
on having to change things...
"We changed our gameplan with half an hour to go. Sadly Lianne didn't play that well tonight and she was finding things hard so we made a change in a bid to liven it up, brighten it up a bit and get Kelly Smith more advanced so she wasn't running 30 or 40 yards to get behind the defence."
on losing their proud unbeaten record...
"The girls are deflated because we have lost a record that has lasted for two years but we have to pick ourselves up and focus on the next game, that is Leeds away. That wont be easy I'm telling you. We will be up against it. We know what it is like to lose because of the Europe exit. It's been a difficult year in truth with the World Cup and some other issues. We always thought it may turn out the way it has but we didn't expect to lose this trophy tonight. But take your hats off to them because they have come here and had a fight, had a battle."
on the officials...
"I don't the referee has done us any favours. You have to protect the players that can play and I think Kelly has had double figures worth of fouls on her tonight and it was never put right by the referee. At the end of the day that is who you rely on."
on a chance of revenge...
"We relish any challenge and should we reach the final of the FA Cup and come up against either Everton or Leeds and then we will see what happens. We have to get through our semi first so let's not go writing Lincoln off just yet." notas_de_prensa_archivo
