EVERTON FC: POMPEY STRIKER DILEMMA

/noticias.info/ Harry Redknapp has a striking dilemma on his hands.

The Portsmouth manager wants to play a lone striker at Goodison on Sunday but feels equally compelled to stick by January signing Jermain Defoe.

But Redknapp feels the former Spurs man can't play the single striker role.

He said: "Jermain is a terrific goalscorer but he's not somebody you can play up there on his own.

"Kanu and Milan (Baros) can both do it and Benjani (Mwaruwari), when he was here, could take it on as well.

"Our away record is fantastic and that run started when Kanu played as a lone striker away at Blackburn in September.

"I love what the big man can do but then again I look at Jermain and ask myself how I can leave him out - especially as he can't play at (Manchester) United."

Veteran defender Hermann Hreidarsson is expecting a tough task at Goodison, especially with ex-Pompey striker Yakubu in great form for the Toffees.

"Everton have been a good side over the years," he declared.

"They are hard to beat – a hard-working team who have a lot of quality about their play as well.

"Yakubu knows where the goal is and we certainly want to keep an eye on him.

"But we are going to focus on our game and see what we can do to them." notas_de_prensa_archivo
