Emma Byrne believes that Arsenal Ladies can learn valuable lessons from their shock 1-0 defeat to Everton in the League Cup Final.
The Irish goalkeeper conceded the only goal of the game after seven minutes but expects Arsenal to thrive now that more opponents are starting to believe they can get the better of the Gunners.
“I think the result was good for women’s football as well as for us,” said Byrne. “In a way to have teams challenging us is good for lots of reasons especially that it gives us a kick up the backside and makes us train a little bit harder.
“Too many times we have conceded first and just out-scored the opposition. When you play against teams like Everton it won't work and tonight has proved that. We must stop conceding silly goals.
“We have the characters in the dressing room to lift the squad. We are not accustomed to losing but this will make us take note of ourselves.”
And what are the prospects of Arsenal bouncing back with another Quadruple next season?
“That’s what we are aiming for,” smiled Byrne. notas_de_prensa_archivo
