UEFA CUP: Castelen set for Hamburg absence

/noticias.info/ Hamburger SV will be without forward Romeo Castelen for six to eight weeks after the Dutchman had an operation to remove damaged knee cartilage.

Damaged tissue
The Surinam-born Castelen, who has played 13 Bundesliga games this season without scoring, suffered a blow to his right knee during a recent friendly game against Danish side FC Midtjylland and underwent keyhole surgery in Rotterdam to remove damaged tissue. The 24-year-old may need up to two months to effect a full recovery. He will thus be absent as Huub Stevens' side take on Bundesliga rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the away leg of their UEFA Cup Round of 16 tie on Thursday. He will also miss the home leg on 12 March and the quarter-finals, should Hamburg reach them, on 3 and 10 April. notas_de_prensa_archivo
