/noticias.info/ UEFA President Michel Platini has met the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, at the Elysée Palace in Paris to discuss the priorities for the French presidency of the European Union in the field of sport.

European vision
Mr Platini had the opportunity to present President Sarkozy with his vision for European football and the solutions which he believes could meet the challenges that football faces today. The two presidents share the same philosophy on the subject and committed themselves to working together during the months ahead to achieve the objectives which they laid out during their meeting. "It was a very positive and constructive meeting for the future of European football," said Mr Platini. "President Sarkozy is an admirer of football and its values, and we can only be glad that he wants to be personally involved in this issue during the upcoming French Presidency of the European Union."

Unique opportunity
The presidents agreed during their talks that the French presidency of the European Union offers a unique opportunity and that it should be used to make concrete advances in fields such as specificity of sport, the protection of the integrity of competitions and the protection of the development of young players. The need to fight with force and firmness against violence, racism and all the evils threatening football was also reaffirmed and, as a result, the project to create a European police force for the sport was also discussed. notas_de_prensa_archivo
