LIVERPOOL FC: TORRES NAMED FEBRUARY PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Fernando Torres has today been rewarded for his blistering goalscoring form by being named the Barclays Player of the Month for February.

/noticias.info/ The Spanish striker - who will go looking for his third successive Anfield hat-trick against Newcastle tomorrow - was presented with the award by manager Rafael Benitez at Melwood this morning.

Torres netted four goals during the month of February, including his second treble for the club against Middlesbrough in a 3-2 win at Anfield.

And he's already well in the running for the March award having netted another hat-trick during Wednesday night's 4-0 thumping of West Ham United.

"The award is well deserved because Fernando has been doing such a good job for the team," said manager Rafael Benitez.

"He is scoring goals, playing well and working hard and I am delighted his contribution to the side has been recognised in this way.

"He is a good player, a good goalscorer and a good person as well. It's fantastic for us all to see him doing so well."

Fernando will be presented with February's award on the pitch ahead of Saturday's clash with Newcastle at Anfield. notas_de_prensa_archivo
