EVERTON FC: HOWARD PREDICTS BACKLASH

/noticias.info/ Tim Howard expects an Everton backlash after the disappointing display in Italy.

The Toffees lost 2-0 to Fiorentina in the first leg of their Uefa Cup round of 16 tie on Thursday evening.

They now face Sunderland on Sunday before hosting the Florence side on Wednesday in the second leg.

"There will be a reaction at Sunderland on Sunday," delcared Howard. "When we go there, we'll be like hungry wolves."

And what chances of the Blues turning around the two-goal deficit?

"We have got it all to do now but football is crazy," said Howard. "When you watch enough of it, you know that anything can happen.

"We are two goals down but we are certainly not out of it. When they come to us next week, it is not going to be a walk for them.

"We can definitely turn it around and if we play like everyone knows that we can do, there's no question that we can do it."

Howard was unable to take any solace from his own excellent individual display.

"From a personal standpoint, I'm not interested in the fact I played well," he added. "It's gone now and we have got to pick ourselves up. Nobody is going to do that for us.

"I thought we had dodged a few bullets in the second half and we had learned a few lessons but unfortunately we didn't heed the warning shots. They came again and scored two goals.

"This is an unfamiliar feeling for us because we have played so well recently and you get used to a certain level of performance and we were well below that last night."
