EVERTON FC: MOYES: AWARD IS FOR THE PLAYERS

The boss received his trophy and a magnum of champagne at Finch Farm on Friday but was quick to deflect the praise away from himself.

"I'm very pleased for the players because they are the ones that have done it," he claimed.

"I don't think it's just been this month, the players have been on a great run but what's important are the coming months now.

"This award is for them and I will be telling them as much.

Moyes is the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for February and he promptly kicked off March with a fine victory at Goodison Park against one of Everton's rivals for that coveted fourth position in the table.

He views March as a crucial month as the run-in approaches.

"This month is what tends to set you up for the final furlong and we started it very well by beating Portsmouth," he said.

Whilst posing for pictures with his award, Moyes was candidly asked about the alleged ‘curse' that goes with the Manager of the Month award!

In the past it's often been the catalyst for a run of poor results for the team of the winning boss but the Everton manager dismissed it.

"I'm not a believer in that but if there is one then maybe it was last night (Fiorentina) for us," he said. notas_de_prensa_archivo
