There's been plenty of progress at Goodison under Moyes, highlighted by this season's runs in the Carling Cup and Uefa Cup - as well as the current lofty league position.
Supporters would surely agree that a great deal has been achieved since David joined the Blues following the sacking of Walter Smith in March 2002.
He was regarded as one of the most promising young managers in the country when he arrived at Goodison and has justified that assessment.
Moyes started his career in 1980 as a player with Celtic but he is best known for his successful spell in charge at Preston North End. In 2004 he signed a new five year contract with the Toffees and talks on a further extended deal are thought to be imminent.
The manager has presided over some notable matches during his tenure, with wins over Manchester United in 2005 and Liverpool in 2006 the most prominent in the mind.
He's also brought European football firmly back to the top of Everton's agenda, following Champions League qualification for 2005/6 with a run to the last 16 of the Uefa Cup this season.
Everton's playing staff has grown in quality as well, with the boss assembling a squad packed full of talented young international players.
The likes of Mikel Arteta, Tim Cahill, Joleon Lescott and Yakubu have gone from strength to strength since coming on board, providing further testament to the manager's skills.
And with his side challenging hard for a return to Europe's elite competition, fans can be optimistic about the next six years. notas_de_prensa_archivo
