GOLF: PGA: Watson sees off duo in play-off

/noticias.info/ Denis Watson birdied the third play-off hole to win the AT&T Champions Classic on Sunday at the Valencia Country Club.

Watson fired a seven-under-par 65 to finish tied for the lead after 54 holes with Loren Roberts and Brad Bryant.

All three players parred the first play-off hole, the par-five 18th, but Bryant was eliminated a hole later when both Watson and Roberts birdied 18 the second time around.

The play-off then moved to the par-four 10th and Watson clinched the win after hitting his second shot, a nine-iron approach to within three feet of the flag.

Roberts was already in the rough and three-putted for a six before Watson rolled in his birdie putt to seal his third career Champions Tour title.

Roberts fired a two-under 70 to earn a spot in the play-off while Bryant, who entered the day with a two-shot lead, signed for an level-par 72.
