FOOTBALL EUROPE: Belgium primed for league shake-up

/noticias.info/ The structure of the Belgian league will change from 2009/10, with the number of clubs reduced to 16 and an end-of-season play-off system introduced.

New format
Representatives of the 18 current Eerste Klasse clubs agreed to the proposals on Monday in a move that will see two fewer clubs competing at the top level. The most radical change, however, will see the teams finishing in the top six compete in an end-of-season play-off competition to decide the league title and European places.
