UEFA EURO 2008: Van Nistelrooy ruled out by ankle op
/noticias.info/ Real Madrid CF forward Ruud van Nistelrooy faces time on the sidelines after undergoing an operation on his right ankle today – but he should be fit for the Netherlands' UEFA EURO 2008™ campaign.
May return
The 31-year-old has been hampered by the problem since the start of last month and has opted to have keyhole surgery in an attempt to remove swelling from the ankle. The operation is being performed in his native Netherlands, and the initial prognosis suggests an absence of six weeks, meaning he could be back for the concluding matches of the Primera División campaign. Van Nistelrooy sprained his ankle on 2 February before returning two weeks later, only to suffer a relapse in the 1-0 defeat by Getafe CF on 24 February. He has not played since. The Spanish season is scheduled to finish on 18 May, three weeks before the Oranje kick off their UEFA EURO 2008™ campaign against Italy. notas_de_prensa_archivo
