Representatives from across the Kirkby community have attended the first Destination Kirkby community liaison group meeting.
The Destination Kirkby meeting was organised by Everton Football Club and Tesco and took place at a Kirkby Secondary School on Tuesday, March 18.
The group has been established by Everton and Tesco to provide a sounding board for community and business representatives regarding the proposed multi-million pound development in Kirkby which will include a new stadium for Everton.
The aim of the group is to demonstrate the commitment of both Tesco and Everton to the regeneration of the area, as well as providing residents with the opportunity to raise questions, make comments and share ideas about the project.
Senior representatives of the partnership including Everton chief executive Keith Wyness and Tesco’s corporate affairs manager Michael Kissman were in attendance. They were joined by Council members, community network members and representatives from local schools and colleges, businesses and public sector organisations.
Everton chief executive Keith Wyness said: "Attending these meetings is part of our commitment to open and honest communication with all aspects of the Kirkby community.
“This evening we've heard a range of views and received valuable feedback on our proposals that will help shape our plans going forward.
"These discussions will continue in the coming weeks and months and we hope that they continue in the spirit of openness and constructive discussion that this first one was held."
Michael Kissman, said: "The first meeting went really well everyone in the room wants to see Kirkby prosper. It gave us the opportunity to agree how best to keep the community informed going forward. Creating new jobs and investing in Kirkby is at the heart of this project.
