CHELSEA FC: COLE: WE MUST ALL STICK TOGETHER

/noticias.info/ Joe Cole, attempting to come to terms with the team letting a lead slip three times at White Hart Lane, still believes the championship race has further twists to come.

The England wideman had a fruitful night personally, putting his side 3-1 and then 4-3 ahead, but with Tottenham fighting back to share the points while Man United were winning against Bolton, Chelsea now stand five points off the top with another London derby at the weekend.

'In football, you always have to put away your successes and disappointments quickly and come this Sunday against Arsenal, we will be up and running and really looking forward to the game,' insists Cole.

'I know Spurs didn't have much to play for but they certainly came out on the night and gave us a good game. We have to all stick together and keep plugging away. I am sure this isn't the last twist and turn in the title race.'

Looking more closely at Wednesday night's events, Cole admitted the defending left much to be desired.

'It is very un-Chelsea-like to let go of a one-goal lead, let alone a two-goal lead but we defend together and we attack together and as a team we didn't defend as we would have liked.

'But there have been many occasions when we have all defended brilliantly and we need to get back to doing the basics again.

'All credit to Tottenham, they kept putting balls in the box and caused us a lot of trouble. I am sure it was a cracking game for spectators but I can assure you there are no mixed feelings, we are just very disappointed.

'You come here and get a 0-0 or a 1-1 and it is a cagey game and you can go away thinking it is a good result - but the goals we scored today and the manner in which we played, we thought we deserved to win.'

Taking the longer view, Cole calls for optimism.

'We may look back at the end of the season and thank Carlo for the two cracking saves he made and a point might be crucial.

'In the next two months there are going to be ups and downs and it will be great for the neutrals to watch. The team that will win the title will be the team that can focus and concentrate the most.'
