CHELSEA FC: DI MATTEO'S ON A STOOL
/noticias.info/ Chelsea continues our series of special events as Roberto Di Matteo takes part in Star on Stool this April.
The midfielder, who scored in three cup finals for Chelsea, famously took a mere 43 seconds to score an opener against Middlesbrough in the 1997 FA Cup Final.
He then secured a win against the northern side the following season when he scored a second injury time goal against Boro in the 1998 League Cup Final, securing Chelsea a 2-0 win and our second domestic cup in two years.
After that, in 2000, he was back in the FA Cup, when Chelsea faced Aston Villa in the final. Di Matteo denied the Birmingham side any hope of lifting the trophy in the 73rd minute when he scored the only goal in the last Cup Final to take place at the old Wembley.
In total he scored 26 goals in 175 appearances with Chelsea before a leg fracture kept him on the sidelines for 18 months. He eventually retired from the injury in 2002 at the age of 31 after six years with the club.
But the former Blue will once again be at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday April 9, giving True Blues the opportunity to ask him about his illustrious footballing career with Chelsea.
The event, hosted by Jason Cundy, will begin at 6pm and tickets are priced at £15 each, which includes bar snacks and a drink.
