LIVERPOOL FC: THE VIEW FROM OLD TRAFFORD
Man Utd fan Dan Sprague talks us through the mood at Old Trafford ahead of Sunday's north-west derby.
/noticias.info/ How confident are you going into this one?
Pretty confident, if I'm honest. Okay, you're on a good run, but so are we. We do have a fantastic record against you of late, though the fact we had a midweek game and you didn't might have an impact.
It's probably obvious, but who are your in-form players?
Without a doubt Ronaldo – he's got 33 goals from the wing. It was nice to see Ben Foster play really well on Sunday but as he wasn't selected last night I don't think he'll feature. Rooney, Nani and Vidic are the other stand-out players at the moment. Everyone is playing well, really, but those few stand out.
Team news?
Silvestre is on his way back but I don't think he'll be back, and the saga continues with Gary Neville. It's a shame from your point of view he's not playing, I'm sure. There's been a lot of rotation this season in midfield, so it's hard to say who'll feature out of Scholes, Anderson, Carrick and Hargreaves.
Any weaknesses we could exploit?
Occasional unexpected results would be our only weakness right now. We'll go on a nine-game unbeaten run, tonk Arsenal 4-0, then lose to Pompey at home.
The fixture puts the Premier League's two in-form players on the same pitch. How do you think you'll cope with Torres?
If Ferdinand is fit I think he and Vidic can handle him. Okay, he may well score, but if he does I am confident we can go and get two with the way we're playing.
Will you be concerned about anyone else?
Torres and Gerrard just about covers it from my point of view. Torres is very good and deserves all the credit he's getting at the moment. I always thought Ruud van Nistlerooy didn't get quite the recognition he deserved for scoring the number of goals Torres is getting now. He is still a world-class striker for Real Madrid today.
What did you make of the Champions League draw?
I was pleased. There is always more interest value if you play foreign sides, plus anything can happen when English sides play one another because they know each other so well. Liverpool are more dangerous in Europe for some reason, though our record against you is good so I would still have been confident. Best save it for the final though, I think.
What's going to happen on Sunday?
A dream Sunday would be 3-0 to us, a Rooney hat-trick, and Arsenal and Chelsea drawing. What do I think will actually happen? Well, I think it'll be tight and we'll win 1-0. I am looking forward to it. It's the first fixture I look for at the start of every season. Man City is okay, Leeds used to be good, Chelsea and Arsenal are good, but nothing beats Man Utd v Liverpool in the league because there's so much rivalry and history between the two cities and teams. notas_de_prensa_archivo
