LIVERPOOL FC: KEWELL TO SKIPPER SOCCEROOS
Harry Kewell has spoken of his delight after he was named Australia captain for the forthcoming World Cup qualifier in China.
/noticias.info/ The Reds winger, who has been given permission by boss Rafael Benitez to join up with his country for both a friendly with Singapore and the crunch qualifier, admitted he felt privileged to be handed the armband.
"It always is (an honour) to lead your country out," said Kewell.
"I'm going to take it from there and see what happens. Obviously I'm going through a difficult time at the moment and to play this game is very important for me and I'm really looking forward to it."
Kewell, whose contract with Reds is up in the summer, insists he is eager to earn a new deal and doesn't believe he has anything new to prove to Benitez.
"Not really," said Kewell.
"They know what I'm capable of doing. I just need to play matches and so I'm out here to play." notas_de_prensa_archivo
