LIVERPOOL FC: WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT FOR KUYT

Dutch coach Marco Van Basten has offered encouragement to Dirk Kuyt after the Reds striker was once again omitted from the Holland squad to face Euro 2008 co-hosts Austria next week.

/noticias.info/ The 27-year-old, who missed last month's clash between Holland and Croatia, has been in improved form of late and despite missing out on the latest 21-man squad, Van Basten insists Kuyt could yet figure in his plans for this summer's European Championships.

"Can he do something to return to the squad? Absolutely: play good football," said Van Basten.

"He must make such an impression at his club that we cannot ignore him.

"We must make choices and at the moment our choices are different. Other players are doing better.
