NOT THE BEST OF DAYS
NOT THE BEST OF DAYS
/noticias.info/ David Coulthard might have enjoyed spending a few hours in a cool air-conditioned environment this afternoon, but the down side was that it came at a time when he should have been taking part in the second free practice session for Sunday’s Malaysian Grand Prix. In the morning session, DC reported a problem with the handling of his RB4 and one corner later he was fighting for control as a front end component failed. He managed to bring the car to a halt, but it was clear the car was badly damaged. Rather than take any risks, and with safety always the Number One priority for us, the team chose to take their time over analysing the cause of the incident and on repairing the damage in a calm and controlled manner. Mark Webber posted the
sixteenth time in the afternoon, after his problem, in the shape of a very rare engine failure, had cut short his morning practice. At the time of writing, the FIA, in the light of David’s accident and also taking into account his Melbourne bingle, has requested that the team provide documentary proof that there is nothing wrong with the integrity of our car’s design and construction. Of course, the team is complying with the request. Our engineers have established what failed and why and are confident that all should be OK for the rest of the weekend. As today’s two 90-minute sessions are not considered part of the competitive element of the grand prix, Mark will not be penalised in any way for requiring an engine change, although for both our drivers, the lack of track time is frustrating. Melbourne winner Lewis Hamilton topped the time sheet for McLaren, followed by the Ferrari duo of Felipe Massa and reigning world champion, Kimi notas_de_prensa_archivo
