CHONBURI BLOG: GANGJEE TIES THE KNOT

I tied the knot on Sunday. It is a great feeling and I’m really happy. It hasn’t sunk in yet especially when people refer to Maithreyi as my wife. I am still not used to that but it’s fantastic to be married. My wife is a wonderful person and she definitely inspires me when she is out on course.

I was engaged in January and I then had the registration done on the 16th of March.

I’m going to have the religious ceremony in May and the reception in December because I want all my family and friends to attend one of the occasions if not both.

I definitely decided on getting married during the Hong Kong week last year. I just knew I was going to ask her. Last December, we went off to a jungle resort in South India and that’s where I popped the question.

So far, my outlook on golf and life is the same. But it’s nice to have her around on the golf course. It’s kind of a calming effect. It’s a strange feeling which I cannot explain.

I hope to see more of my wife with me on Tour after May. It also depends on how I’m playing and my form. If I play well and earn the big bucks, then I hope to have her on board with me on the travels as frequent as possible. We’ll see how it goes.

As far as golf is concerned, I will still be as committed to playing on the Asian Tour. I am not in a hurry to have a family just yet. Give it maybe two and a half years and then I’ll start looking at it seriously.

I am currently working on my short game and we’ll see how that holds up, you never know when it comes to golf. I hope to take it a step at a time and we’ll plan it from there.
