UNDER 17 CHAMPIONSHIP: Romania miss out despite win

/noticias.info/ Romania were pipped to the UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals despite ending Elite round Group 6 with a win against Austria.

Having drawn with Spain and Italy in their opening matches, Romania were hopeful that three points today would take them through and although Andrian Marius Stoian hit the crossbar on five minutes, not long afterwards Marius Albu found the target with a superb shot. That proved to be decisive, but on the hour mark in the day's other Matchday 3 game Spain took the lead against Italy and held on to finish the group two points ahead of Romania, who exit unbeaten.
