UNDER 17 CHAMPIONSHIP: Gavilán secures Spain's berth

Juan Santisteban's holders led Italy and mini-tournament hosts Romania by two points at kick-off so knew a victory would keep up the coach's record of only missing out on the junior UEFA finals once in two decades. With 60 minutes gone and their game scoreless, Spain were in danger of missing out as Romania were leading Austria 1-0 but then Manuel Gavilán broke the deadlock from close range to decide a tight encounter.
