CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Cards marked for quarter-finalists

Roma's Simone Perrotta, Schalke's Jermaine Jones and Fenerbahçe's Gökhan Gönül have been ruled out of the games on Tuesday and Wednesday after triggering one-match bans with a booking in the second leg of their first knockout round ties. Midfielder Jones will be serving his second suspension of the campaign. Players are suspended for one game after receiving their third yellow card of the season, with further bans resulting from every two cautions thereafter.

Disciplinary tightrope
Midfielder Perrotta will be the only enforced absentee when Roma host Manchester United FC, although team-mates Marco Cassetti, Cicinho, Daniele De Rossi, Max Tonetto and Mirko Vučinić are one booking away from a similar fate in the return match. Likewise, United's Nani and Patrice Evra must tread carefully. Also on Tuesday, a Jones-less Schalke face FC Barcelona with Marcelo Bordon, Rafinha, Carlos Grossmüller and Kevin Kuranyi walking the disciplinary tightrope, while Lionel Messi and Yaya Touré do the same for the visitors.

One false move
Gökhan is the only player missing Wednesday's action through suspension, but his Fenerbahçe colleagues Deivid, Mateja Kežman, Lugano and Selçuk Şahin are a yellow card shy of a ban as they meet Chelsea FC. The away side's only disciplinary concern is Michael Essien. Elsewhere, Arsenal FC's Emmanuel Adebayor, Gaël Clichy, Emmanuel Eboué, Aleksandr Hleb and Denilson are one false move away from a one-game lay-off as they entertain Liverpool FC.
