FOOTBALL EUROPE: Derby draw suits pacesetters Slavia
/noticias.info/ The Prague derby finished 1-1 as SK Slavia Praha survived the sending-off of goalscorer David Kalivoda to gain a point that kept them two clear of AC Sparta Praha in the Czech title race.
Parity
Substitute Kalivoda was dismissed directly after scoring the opening goal after 58 minutes – receiving a second yellow card for taking off his shirt in celebration. The man advantage allowed Sparta, second in the 1. Liga table behind their neighbours, to mount a siege that produced a 73rd-minute equaliser for Michal Kadlec.
Key moment
Slavia coach Karel Jarolím rued the sending-off, saying: "I can't understand him [Kalivoda]. It's unforgivable." Kalivoda had struck against the run of play, hitting the net from Tijani Belaid's cross. However, the initiative given to the league leaders was partly taken away by the midfielder's enforced departure. Home goalkeeper Martin Vaniak performed heroics, notably tipping a Pavel Horváth shot against a post, before Sparta finally found a way through as defender Michal Kadlec headed home Horváth's corner.
Chances lost
Visiting coach Michal Bílek was disappointed by his side's failure to find a second goal. "We were the better team and it's a pity we were unable to take our chances," he said. The game was held up for six minutes after the opening goal and the subsequent red card, because of crowd trouble involving both sets of fans. notas_de_prensa_archivo
