UNDER 17 CHAMPIONSHIP: Terim to make U17 draw tonight
/noticias.info/ Turkey coach Fatih Terim will help make the UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals draw at 18.00 CET tonight in Antalya as the eight contenders learn their group-stage opponents for the tournament from 4-16 May.
Champions return
The finals will be played at three stadiums in the region of the Mediterranean resort, including one semi-final and the final at the city's main Antalya Atatürk Stadium. Four of the six winners of the previous U17 finals are present, with 2005 champions Turkey and holders Spain joined by inaugural 2002 victors Switzerland and France, the last hosts to succeed in 2004. The Netherlands, runners-up in 2005, Serbia and first-time U17 qualifiers Scotland and the Republic of Ireland are also involved.
Draw procedure
Joining Terim to make the draw at the World Of Wonders Topkapi Palace Hotel will be Jim Boyce, first vice-chairman of the UEFA Youth and Amateur Football Committee. The draw venue is part of a large complex which will also stage six group stage games and provide a training base for the contenders. Turkey will be placed as the first team in Group A; otherwise the seven slots in the two pools will be filled without seeding. notas_de_prensa_archivo
