FOOTBALL EUROPE: Marseille stunt Lyon's title push

Lyon remain six points clear of FC Girondins de Bordeaux, 2-0 victors at Stade Rennais FC yesterday, despite a setback in Marseille that was prompted by two quick first-half strikes. Djibril Cissé opened the scoring after 26 minutes and the lead was doubled by Mamadou Niang (28). The champions' hopes were raised on the stroke of half-time when Lorik Cana found his own net, but Marseille were not fazed and restored their two-goal cushion after the break when Niang scored his 15th league goal of a fruitful campaign.

PSG problems
Marseille are still three points behind Nancy after a diving header by Marc-Antoine Fortune on 67 minutes ensured PSG's trip from the capital went unrewarded. That result leaves Paul Le Guen's side in the relegation zone alongside RC Strasbourg on 35 points.
