Graeme Souness has praised the qualities of Peter Crouch after the Reds striker capped a 'fabulous' performance with a well-taken goal in the 1-1 draw at Arsenal.

/noticias.info/ The legendary Reds midfielder felt the England forward terrorised the Gunners defence throughout a keenly contested Barclays Premier League showdown and believes he is a player all centre backs hate to play against.

"I thought he was fabulous," said Souness.

"For his goal he made life difficult for the defenders for the first ball and then he was alive to the second one.

"He messed them around for the whole first-half and for the whole time he was on the pitch. Maybe not so much second half as Arsenal found another gear."But I thought he was fabulous and deserved his man of the match (award).

"He's a big, tall boy and people panic when they stand up against him. They look to foul him and get across him."

Despite being impressed by the burgeoning strike partnership of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard, Souness feels Crouch could still earn a place in Rafael Benitez's side alongside El Nino and believes the pair would more than compliment each other.

"He's a danger," said Souness.

"Could he play with Torres? Yes, I'm sure he could. Torres is lightning quick and got an explosive burst, so Crouch could well play with him.

"But right now they've come up with a formation with Steven Gerrard there, and that is winning them games." notas_de_prensa_archivo
