11 Shot Anelka latches onto an Essien through-ball to break into the box, but his subsequent shot is deflected out for a fruitless corner.

16 Chance Petrov finds himself with enough space and time to send a shot careering off target from 30 yards out.

18 Chance Cudicini remains untroubled as Benjani breaks into the box only to send the ball flying over the bar with his head.

Comment

Anelka leads the attack for Chelsea's visit to the City of Manchester Stadium for this game. After Manchester City's 6-0 thumping at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, the 2-0 was an improved result for Sven Goran Eriksson's side.

The game saw the return of Martin Petrov and Michael Johnson after the two midfielders missed City's previous games due to injury while Shaun Wright-Phillips starts for the Blues.

Another three points keeps us second in the Barclays Premier League while Manchester United continue to preside at the top.
