INTER: Mancini: "Toro a tough opponent"
/noticias.info/ APPIANO GENTILE - Roberto Mancini answered questions from the press in his news conference ahead of Sunday's league fixture against Torino.
Here's part one of two:
Torino changed coach at the start of the week. Does this make tomorrow evening's match more complicated?
"The difficulties are the same, but the change of coach could obviously prompt the Torino players to give more. Anyway, we face an excellent team who have probably collected less than they have deserved in their last home matches."
With the new coach, will we see a different Torino from the team we have seen so far?
"Coaches aren't all the same, so there will be some changes, but the players are the same and it would still have been a difficult game with Novellino on the bench. The situation doesn't change much and we will still try to win."
Besides the change of coach, what other problems could Inter encounter against Torino tomorrow night?
"Torino played an excellent first half against Genoa, and then the match changed after they conceded a goal in the second half. But they also had a lot of scoring chances in the match they lost at home to Empoli. And they won at Catania, so they're not going through a crisis. We're almost at the end of the championship now and there are fewer and fewer matches, so it's normal for those at bottom of the table to be a bit scared. However, Torino have a few points more than the other teams so their situation is better. It will be a delicate match tomorrow. We know it will be hard, but if we play a great match we can do well."
How many doubts do you have regarding your lineup for tomorrow?
"A few, but there are no big doubts. All my players are good."
Why has Zlatan Ibrahimovic gone to train in Sweden?
"I think he went to Sweden to get away from here for a while. He has done his work and there he has this physiotherapist and the people he trusts. He probably did it to work with greater tranquillity and without pressure, and without having to think about training ahead of the match the following Sunday. I think it will do him good."
When are you expecting to see him back on the pitch?
"I was hoping that he would recover in the last two weeks and be there for this match, but we had spoken at the end of last week and this idea had been put forward. Now he can work calmly in these coming days, and I'm hoping to have him for the game against Cagliari or the one after that. It all depends on what happens. We need to see if the pain decreases, or if it goes away completely."
So are you counting on having Ibra for the derby?
"I hope he can train well and return without any problems. And then he will have to train with the squad, like what happened with Vieira - a very useful player for the squad if he trains regularly and gets back in form. Playing without training, like Ibra has done recently, is harmful both for him and the team, so like I just said, it depends on how he is when he returns next week."
