ARSENAL: Simpson wins PFA Player of the Year award
/noticias.info/ Jay Simpson has been named as the Coca-Cola League One PFA Player of the Year.
The Arsenal forward has enjoyed a successful season-long loan spell at Millwall, scoring eight goals in 45 appearances to help steer the Lions clear of the relegation zone. His most recent goal was probably his most memorable, a spectacular strike against Carlisle at the weekend which set Millwall on their way to a 3-0 win and safety.
Simpson, who can operate as a central striker or on either flank, also scooped the monthly PFA awards for November and March.
The 19-year-old made history last season when he became the first player to score a hat-trick at Emirates Stadium. His treble came in a Youth Cup tie against Cardiff City.
Simpson made his Under-18s debut for Arsenal aged just 13 and, after impressing for the Reserves, earned a place on the substitutes bench for the first team's final game of last season, at Portsmouth. notas_de_prensa_archivo
