Hans-Gert Pöttering visits Peru. The EP President will be in Lima for an official visit to Peru, including meetings with President Alan Garcia, members of the government and parliamentarians, among others (Thursday). He will then take part in the EU – Latin America and Caribbean summit which takes place in the Peruvian capital (Friday).
Dominique Strauss-Kahn. The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund will meet MEPs from the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee for a discussion on the financial market turmoil of recent months. (Thursday)
Preparing for the plenary. Parliament's political groups will devote most of the week to preparations for the plenary session of 19-22 May in Strasbourg. The main items on the agenda include the interim report of Parliament's Temporary Committee on Climate Change and a report on Turkey's progress towards EU accession, plus legislation on transport, covering access to the road freight market, rules on passenger road transport and licensing for transport operators.
Pre-plenary briefing. Any changes to the plenary agenda will be announced at the regular press briefing with Parliament's Press Service and the spokespeople of the political groups on hand to comment at 11am on Friday (room PHS 0A050).
Whitsun holiday. Parliament's offices in Brussels are closed on Monday 12 May for the Whitsun holiday. notas_de_prensa_archivo
