CHELSEA FC: AVRAM NAMED MANAGER OF THE MONTH

/noticias.info/ Avram Grant has been named Manager of the Month for April by the Barclays Premier League.

Five points adrift league leaders Manchester United at the start of April, we had drawn level with the Old Trafford side by the end of the month.

In the four league games played, we recorded victories away at Manchester City (2-0) and Everton (1-0), while beating Manchester United (2-1) and drawing with Wigan Athletic (1-1) at Stamford Bridge.

In addition to our impressive league form, Grant also led us through two rounds of the Champions League during April, ending the month with qualification for the club's first final in Europe's premier club competition.

On collecting his award, Grant said: 'It was a very good month and until now, each month we have been better than the month before, and each month we came to play good football.

'We are two games from creating history for the club, and this award doesn't belong to me, it belongs to everybody, to the staff and the players.'

Grant is the first Israeli to win the award. The last time a Chelsea manager collected it was March last year when it went to José Mourinho.

The decision is made by the Barclays Award Panel, which includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and fans. notas_de_prensa_archivo
